What we do

Africa is rich in natural resources but faces major challenges such as the consequences of climate change and related extreme weather events. In addition, the African population is expected to double within the next 30 years.

Based on its long-standing research contacts with African research institutions, the Africa Research Network aims to gain knowledge and develop models with local partners that can make a decisive contribution to overcoming these problems.

“The University has a long tradition of research cooperation in Africa. In addition to the Hans Ruthenberg Institute with its ten chairs in agricultural science in the tropics, there is a wide range of involvement by Hohenheim scientists. I am pleased that we can present Hohenheim research project to you on these pages and hope the information will help to build up new cooperation.”
